Promising tri-national centre-back Ifeanyi Ndukwe has agreed a move to Premier League giants Liverpool, marking a major step forward in the career of one of Europe's most exciting young defensive talents.
Born in Vienna to a Russian mother and a Nigerian father, the Austria Wien prodigy is eligible to represent Nigeria, Austria and Russia at senior international level.
However, Ndukwe is leaning towards committing his international future to Austria, the country of his birth, having already featured in competitive games for the Austria U17 national team.
The 17-year-old was one of the standout performers at the 2025 Fifa U17 World Cup in Qatar, where he played a key role in Austria's impressive run to the final.
Ndukwe helped his side record five clean sheets during the tournament before they narrowly lost 1–0 to Portugal in the final.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that reigning Premier League champions Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign the highly-rated defender, with the transfer set to be completed in the summer of 2026.
An agreement is in place and will take effect from July, with Austria Wien accepting Liverpool's proposal and Ndukwe giving the green light to the move at the end of the season.
The deal is reportedly worth €3 million, with performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause also included.
Despite yet to make his senior debut for Austria Wien, Ndukwe has been closely involved with the first team this season, earning nine call-ups, including four in UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
Austria Wien handed him a new contract last June, extending his stay with the Violets until the end of the 2027–28 campaign.
