The Golden State Warriors got crushed on Friday night. That was not surprising. After all, they were hosting the defending-champion Oklahoma City Thunder, and playing without Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler III, Draymond Green, De’Anthony Melton, and Jonathan Kuminga. It was all Thunder from the get-go, as they had an early 10-0 run, and led 34-23 after one quarter.
Behind inspired performances from Will Richard and Brandin Podziemski, the Dubs went on a 9-0 run early in the second to make the game close. Unfortunately, OKC answered with 19 unanswered points, and led 64-45 at the break.
The Warriors never made a comeback in the third quarter. It was a blowout all the way, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander powering the Thunder to a 95-66 lead entering the final frame.
The Thunder rested their starters for the entirety of the fourth quarter. The Warriors, of course, rested their starters before the game even began. It was a highly uneventful final 12 minutes.
