Sources: Luka Doncic playing through ‘a lot of pain’ right now

[Los Angeles Lakers](https://lakersdaily.com/) superstar Luka Doncic is not close to 100 percent, but he’s still giving the Purple and Gold everything he’s got.

Sources told Lakers Daily that Doncic is playing through “a lot of pain” right now. The former [Dallas Mavericks](https://ahnfiredigital.com/category/nba/dallas-mavericks/) star is dealing with a left elbow injury and “nagging” pain in both legs, sources said.

Doncic has been undergoing “around-the-clock” treatment to suit up for the Lakers, sources said. The 26-year-old doesn’t want to sit out, though, sources said, since Los Angeles is already without Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and Gabe Vincent.

Many fans and pundits may have noticed that Doncic is relying on his jumper more than usual lately. That’s because the future Hall of Famer is dealing with “sharp” pain in his legs, sources said, preventing him from exploding to the basket with ease.

Over his last four games, Doncic is averaging 30.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game, which are stellar numbers. However, the five-time All-Star is shooting only 30.0 percent from 3. Most of his shots from beyond the arc have been short since he doesn’t have much power in his legs at the moment.

The bad news for the Lakers is that Doncic won’t get much time to rest in January, as the team has 15 games remaining this month and three back-to-backs. Los Angeles will only get two days off once.

The Lakers are 21-11 on the season. They are in fifth place in the Western Conference standings. Doncic is averaging 33.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game while shooting 45.9 percent overall, 31.7 percent from 3 and 80.1 percent from the foul line. He leads the NBA in points per game.
