After an epic start to the 2025-26 NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers have come back down to earth. The team has lost four of its last six games. And while their defensive struggles have been obvious, they have also had issues on offense. Head coach JJ Redick tried to give a reason for the Lakers’ struggles.
Despite having Luka Doncic and LeBron James on the floor together, LA’s offense has lacked rhythm. They have also been disorganized and turned the ball over quite a bit. Redick addressed this, although JJ did say that even he doesn’t exactly know how he can fix the issues.

“Not at all, I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know what else to do,” Redick told the media. “I do a lot of joysticking over there on the sideline. Yesterday I said, ‘Hey, let’s run Away Toss. You bring it up the left side. I want so and so in it.’

“This was after a dead ball. It wasn’t like I was calling it on the fly. And we bring it up that side, and the person I want in the Away Toss isn’t over there. That’s happening so consistently right now. I chalk it up to the holidays.”

Redick’s not happy with his team at the moment. However, Los Angeles is dealing with some severe roster imbalance this season. That cannot be addressed immediately and will need to be fixed for them to truly compete. And simply put, the Lakers’ stars also need to perform better.
