The sooner Manchester City can complete their move for a Bournemouth star the better

For the past week, it has seemed to be only a matter of time before Antoine Semenyo becomes a Manchester City player. Semenyo’s release clause in his deal with Bournemouth expires on January 10. It did seem that he’d be a City player sooner rather than later. As of yet, Semenyo is yet to sign for City. He played for Bournemouth yesterday in their 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium yesterday. A new report indicates that Semenyo is unlikely to become a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad until after Bournemouth’s next Premier League fixture against Tottenham.

From a Manchester City point of view, they need Semenyo in Pep Guardiola’s squad as soon as possible, but that is seemingly out of their control. Injuries to Oscar Bobb and Savinho have stretched City’s attacking options. As has Omar Marmoush’s absence due to the African Cup of Nations. Jeremy Doku has just returned from injury so City do seem to be stretched for attacking options and Semenyo would bolster Pep Guardiola’s attacking options.

Antoine Semenyo is unlikely to join Manchester City until after Bournemouth’s next match.

A new report from James Marshment for TeamTalk has revealed that Antoine Semenyo is expected to become a Manchester City player on January 10. Furthermore, Marshment reports that Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has requested that Antoine Semenyo’s move to the Etihad be delayed until the final hours of January. As per James Marshment’s report, Iraola is concerned with Bournemouth’s recent run of results. The Bournemouth manager feels that Semenyo could make a vital contribution before sealing his move to City.

City does need Antoine Semenyo given the recent injury to Savinho.

It would now seem that it is going to be a few more days before Antoine Semenyo signs for Manchester City. Bournemouth play Tottenham this upcoming Wednesday night. All indications are that Semenyo will play for the Cherries against Spurs. Bournemouth need their top goalscorer so the wait continues for Semenyo to join City.

As mentioned above, Manchester City’s attacking options are stretched. Savinho, Oscar Bobb and Omar Marmoush’s unavailability does hurt Pep Guardiola’s side. As does Jeremy Doku working his way back to full fitness. Signing Antoine Semenyo as soon as possible would fill a hole in the City squad. But it doesn’t seem to be feasible at this stage.

It would be nice if Manchester City could complete their move to sign Antoine Semenyo as quickly as possible. But that doesn’t look like happening at this stage. Barring a late change, Semenyo is a week away from becoming a City player. It would be ideal for City to have him now, but that won’t be happening at this stage of proceedings.
