Cherries decent in defeat to league leaders Arsenal: Player ratings

A good first half showing saw Bournemouth take the lead after ten minutes through Evanilson, before the Gunners hit back through Gabriel.

Declan Rice scored a brace in the second half that opened up a two-goal buffer for the visitors, and while Junior Kroupi got a goal back with 14 minutes to play, the Cherries couldn’t find an equaliser.

The Daily Echo rates the Cherries players in defeat.

**Djordje Petrovic: 6**

The keeper was overall solid, and had a few good moments as he came to punch crosses and set pieces, but was caught in no-man’s land for Arsenal’s third goal as he came out to Bukayo Saka’s run towards the byline.

**Adrien Truffert: 5**

The left back was caught on the turn for the third Arsenal goal and at times struggled against Noni Madueke. Not the Frenchman’s best performance of the season so far.

**Marcos Senesi: 6**

The Argentine was solid enough at centre back and he and James Hill more than dealt with the threat of Victor Gyokeres.

**James Hill: 7**

Hill put in a very good display at centre back and has really put his hand up to be Senesi’s partner going forward in the past two weeks. A solid presence at the back and made a couple of crucial challenges.

**Alex Jimenez: 6**

The Spaniard looked bright but at times was caught out by Gabriel Martinelli and Piero Hincapie overlapping on the right. Jimenez had his moments going forward with driving runs he has impressed with recently, but without too much reward.

**Marcus Tavernier: 6**

In the first half, Tavernier was good picking the ball up from deep and bringing it forward, starting Cherries attacks. In the second he was less effective as Arsenal took control.

**Alex Scott: 6**

As with Tavernier, a better first half for Scott than the second, as the Arsenal midfield three of Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice were able to wrestle more control in the second 45.

**David Brooks: 6**

Brooks had a couple of tough chances and wasn’t able to convert, and looked decent going forward during the first half. He was less effective in the second when needing to defend more.

Justin Kluivert. _(Image: Richard Crease)_

**Justin Kluivert: 7**

A good performance from Kluivert, who seems to be finding some of his form from last season. A couple of good attempts from range in the first half and he was bright in pulling the strings in attack.

**Antoine Semenyo: 6**

As stories swirl about Semenyo’s future, he didn’t have his best game for the Cherries as he was unable to make a big impact on the game – he had the fewest touches of any outfield player to play the full 90 minutes.

**Evanilson: 7**

A good showing from the Brazilian with a well taken goal – although goals won’t come much easier for him. He showed good energy in the press and was an important part of a good first half in particular.

A brilliant goal.
