Jahmai Simpson-Pusey's next move, as nightmare Celtic loan spell ends for Manchester City star

Everyone is now going to see the aftermath of Celtic’s woeful 2025 summer transfer window unfold.

When everything was unfolding during the summer, and after the window slammed shut, it was clear that Celtic had concluded pretty poor business under the then-manager, Brendan Rodgers.

It’s further proven by how Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has been used during the Manchester City star’s loan spell at Celtic Park.

It was supposed to last a whole season, but with the January transfer window re-opened, he is already finding a new club and heading out of the Celtic exit door.

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey to make Bundesliga switch after Celtic loan spell

It’s a loan spell that has failed, and you can’t really blame the player much, because he warmed the bench more often than he was on the pitch.

But according to Florian Plettenberg, Simpson-Pusey is heading to the Bundesliga after ‘an agreement was reached’ between Manchester City and FC Koln.

Koln are sitting in the bottom half of the table, and Simpson-Pusey will join on a six-month loan deal, and there is an ‘option to buy’ the centre-back for the German club.

Plettenberg also shared on social media that, ‘if everything goes to plan’, Simpson-Pusey will join Koln’s training camp by Tuesday.

‘Jahmai Simpson-Pusey to 1. FC Köln – DONE DEAL,’ wrote Plettenberg. ‘An agreement has been reached with Manchester City. It is a 6-month loan with an option to buy.

’20 y/o talented centre-back is expected to complete his medical in Cologne today. If everything goes to plan, he will join the training camp by Tuesday at the latest.’

Simpson-Pusey’s Celtic nightmare in numbers

Celtic have been woeful from a defensive aspect, especially under Nancy, yet a player who was playing Champions League football for Manchester City last season wasn’t deemed good enough.

Simpson-Pusey can even play at right-back. You have had Alistair Johnston injured for most of the campaign, as well as Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Yet that didn’t open the door for Simpson-Pusey to earn more minutes other than watching the likes of Anthony Ralston, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales and Dane Murray stink the place out time and time again.
