Arsenal Told To Pay £56.6M Asking Price As Gunners Enter 5 Club Transfer Battle

Arsenal will need to match Eintracht Frankfurt’s €65m (£56.6m) valuation if they want to land left-back Nathaniel Brown, according to reports in Germany.

The Gunners have been linked with the 22-year-old in recent months, and Bild confirm that the London club are one of five teams hoping to secure the player’s services.

Brown is also attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan after an impressive first half of the season.

The German international has caught the eye after making 6 goal contributions (1 goal and 5 assists) in 22 appearances.

Could Brown be signed in January?

Manager Mikel Arteta has said that the club are keeping an open mind regarding transfers this month:

“We are open to every option (loan or permanent deals). Obviously, we can find a solution that is short, medium, or long. It’s always much better because it gives you stability and you don’t have to constantly start a process with a new player. But let’s see what happens. Let’s see what the news are in the next few weeks, and we will try to make the right decision.”

However, Bild claim that Frankfurt will only consider letting Brown go at the end of the season, so a summer bid is believed to be more likely.

Arsenal have plenty of left-back options

One reason to doubt whether an offer will be tabled is the position that Brown plays. Arteta already has plenty of choice on the left-hand side of defence.

In addition to Riccardo Calafiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly, Piero Hincapie is another option available to the manager. While the Ecuadorian international is only on loan from Bayer Leverkusen at the moment, there is an expectation that the move will become permanent this summer.
