Luis Diaz launches music career with new video as Colombian continues post-Liverpool glow up

More than five months after his departure, Luis Diaz remains a big talking point among the Liverpool fanbase this season.

The Colombian joined Bayern Munich after three-and-a-half years with the Reds and has gone on to be a major success in Germany.

Liverpool did not properly replace Diaz in the transfer market and this, coupled with his form for Bayern, has led many to conclude that his sale was a mistake.

By contrast, Diaz looks happier than ever at his new club. 13 goals and seven assists in his first 22 appearances have underlined his status as one of Europe’s most effective wingers.

While the 28-year-old has been making waves on the field, it also turns out he has been particularly busy off it as well. As he continues to thrive after leaving Liverpool, Diaz launched his music career with a new single released on New Year’s Eve.

Even while he was still a Liverpool player, Diaz admitted he would be keen to pursue a life in music alongside his football career.

Back in February, he suggested that he could one day become a rap artist in his native Colombia.

On Wednesday, his dream became a reality. And although his single ā€˜The Promiseā€˜ involves far more singing than rapping, it shows that Diaz was serious after all.

Released on his brand new YouTube channel, ā€˜Luis Diaz Music’, the former Liverpool man’s new song comes complete with a glossy music video.

Inevitably, football features heavily in the video, with scenes depicting a young Diaz growing up as a footballer in Colombia. The lyrics focus on promises he made to his family about changing their lives once he became rich and famous.

Diaz looking for ā€˜different journey’

Having been watched almost 300,000 times since its release on Wednesday, The Promise looks like it will be a resounding success for Diaz.

His YouTube channel has already gained over 8,000 subscribers and although Diaz describes his new venture as a hobby, perhaps there is a future here for him.

ā€œI’m Luis Diaz, many of you know me from football, but today I want to share another side of me,ā€ the Bayern star wrote on his channel’s home page.

ā€œMusic is one of my hobbies and a way for me to express myself from the heart, something I do with great love and respect for the art form. This project was born from passion, from enjoying the process, and from connecting with you on a different level. Thank you for your support and for being here on this new journey.ā€

It will be interesting to hear what Diaz’s former Liverpool teammates think of his new venture as they continue to miss him on Merseyside. Perhaps we’ll hear this one blasting from the Anfield changing rooms in the near future.
