BBC report former Liverpool star open to transfer in January 2026 window

A former Red could be on the move this winter.

Whilst much of the focus will be on the potential signings Liverpool bring in as they attempt to tun their season around, it’s also interesting to keep an eye on those who used to play for Liverpool.

Many players have come and gone over the years at Liverpool – some go onto have great careers, but the pattern seems to be, especially in recent years, that the grass isn’t always greener when departing Merseyside.

Raheem Sterling has had an interesting career path since departing Liverpool.

In July 2015, he signed for Manchester City for £49m and did go on to have a hugely successful career in Manchester, winning four Premier League trophies, five League Cups, one FA Cup and one Community Shield.

As a result of his brilliant 2018/19 season, where has was directly involved in 46 goals across all competitions, he was rewarded with PFA Young Player of the Year, an inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year and the Football Writers’ Associations Footballer of the Year.

Throughout his time at City, Guardiola gradually used the forward less and less and in July 2022 he moved to Chelsea for a fee in the region of £50million.

Looking for a fresh start, it didn’t turn into one.

With 14 goals in 59 appearances for the Blues, he has not featured once this season after being frozen out of the squad by Enzo Maresca.

Still maintaining hi fitness and biding his time, it ha now been revealed that Raheem Sterling is keen on a permanent exit, with Fulham and West Ham keen.

The BBC’s Sami Mokbel’s post on X reads:

“Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling open to moving away from London amid links with West Ham and Fulham.”

“Sterling settled in the capital but if conditions are attractive and offers his career and family stability, he is willing to uproot. Player wants permanent switch, no loan.”

There were rumblings that Sterling did want to consider a move outside of London, due to his family being happy there but Mokbel has dispelled those myths.

One to keep an eye on in this January transfer window.
