Liverpool injury update on Hugo Ekitike as he is absent against Fulham,
Arne Slot has admitted that a hamstring issue has ruled Hugo Ekitike out of Liverpool’s clash against Fulham.
The striker does not feature at Craven Cottage, which is a major blow for the Reds. Ekitike has fired 11 goals since signing for Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool already have Alexander Isak sidelined with a broken leg, while Mo Salah is representing Egypt at the African Cup of Nations. They’ll have to cope without three forwards against Fulham in the Premier League at Craven Cottage. And with the Reds travelling to leaders Arsenal on Thursday, Slot confessed he is unsure whether Ekitike will be back.
The Liverpool head coach told Sky Sports:"Alexander Isak has been out for a few weeks now. That has meant that Hugo had to play more minutes than he did throughout the whole season.
"That has led to the fact that he picked up a slight hamstring injury, because we had to play him more and more and more minutes. For a player that's his age and is not used to the Premier League completely, that has been a bit too much. So, that's why he will be out for today and hopefully be back for the Arsenal game, but that's definitely not sure yet."
