Man City vs Chelsea – Team News: Chelsea make unexpected change in goal and on the wing

Chelsea face Man City at the Etihad Stadium in just over an hour, and the teams are in!

Calum McFarlane is in temporary charge of Chelsea after Enzo Maresca’s departure this week, and this is the team he’s gone for – although it’s not clear just how much influence he actually has on proceedings.

It’s a tricky time to pick a team, given we’re playing away at one of the strongest teams in the league, and given key players like Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella aren’t available (thanks to suspension and injury respectively).

With games coming thick and fast, no risks can be taken with fitness, but we also need to play a strong side.

Here are the full team line-ups for Man City vs Chelsea (kick off at 17:30 GMT)

Where do we start with this one? It’s full of interesting things. Robert Sanchez must be injured or unwell because he’s not in the squad. Filip Jorgensen is in goal.

Reece James plays in midfield alongside Enzo Fernandez in the double pivot. That means a back four with Josh Acheampong at right back, Malo Gusto at left back, and Benoit Badiashile coming in to replace Wesley Fofana alongside Trevoh Chalobah.

Ahead of the midfield Cole Palmer plays in the hole. After his good showing in midweek, Estevao gets a start ont the right, with Pedro Neto flipped to the left and Alejandro Garnacho dropped. Liam Delap is also dropped, with Joao Pedro back into the side.

Pedro Neto insists that we’ve got a chance in today’s game, despite the chaos at the club and the standard of our opposition. We wish we were as hopeful.
