Liverpool went behind against Fulham after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) check overturned an initial offside call at Craven Cottage.
Harry Wilson, who spent time at Anfield as a youngster, was initially flagged offside, but VAR reviewed the incident and ruled that the winger had been onside in the build‑up to the goal. An explanation from the Premier League Match Centre, read: "17' VAR OVERTURNVAR checked the referee's call of no goal - and established that Wilson was in an onside position and recommended that the goal was awarded."
It was confirmed that Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk was the player who kept Wilson onside for their opener.
Wilson's goal was initially ruled out after Raul Jimenez was said to have played him through in an offside position.
He burst past Netherlands midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and drilled his shot across Alisson Becker into the bottom corner, but his celebrations and those of the Craven Cottage crowd, were halted by the offside flag.
Replays showed Wilson was almost level with Van Dijk, the last defender.
"For Liverpool there is a slight question mark now," ex-Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer said on 5 Live.
"They were beaten by a ball played in behind when they were slightly high up the pitch.
"They were punished, so now there is a feel that we can't get beaten by another ball in behind like that.
"They've dropped deeper and Fulham having scored the goal are full if confidence and on the front foot."
Liverpool have lost all four Premier League games in which they've conceded first this season.
The match at Craven Cottage was, meanwhile, hit with a delay caused by a medical emergency in the crowd.
Kick‑off was moved from 3pm to 3.15pm on Sunday afternoon.
