Arne Slot made three changes to the side that drew with Leeds in the week, with Hugo Ekitike sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
It meant Florian Wirtz started in a central role behind the returning Cody Gakpo.
Harry Wilson shows Liverpool what they’re missing
The first decent chance was when Gakpo was released one-v-one but he took an awful touch away from goal then scuffed the shot wide.
At the other end, Harry Wilson showed Gakpo how to take a similar chance with a clinical strike into the bottom corner. 1-0 for the home side after VAR showed the former Red was onside.

Liverpool, lacking any pace in attack, had their next chance when Gakpo headed against the woodwork but he was offside anyway.
It was pretty uninspiring stuff and no surprise the Reds got to half time without a goal – the 13th time in 20 league games they’d fail to score in the first half.
In fact, Slot’s side didn’t have a shot on target.
Half time: Fulham 1-0 Liverpool
Florian Wirtz equalises despite looking offside!
Gakpo had the ball in the net early in the half but was a long way offside, while Mac Allister headed against the bar from Szoboszlai’s corner as Liverpool showed some attacking impetus.
The equaliser then arrived after a lengthy VAR delay to check whether Wirtz was onside as he netted his second goal for the club from Conor Bradley‘s pass after a tricky run from the right-back. It certainly didn’t look onside!

That goal gave Liverpool more confidence initially but rather than push on, they got worse as the game progressed.
Gakpo shot wide from 25 yards. At the other end, Wilson clipped the bar after Jimenez had been put through.
Wirtz was hooked with 15 minutes remaining, Jeremie Frimpong replacing him. Federico Chiesa got a whole five minutes to influence things from the bench when he replaced Jones.
Rio Ngumoha sat on the sidelines again despite the game calling out for somebody with pace and unpredictability.

Liverpool thought they’d won it in stoppage time when Gakpo finally netted at the back post, but Harrison Reed then rifled in an equaliser for the home side in the seventh minute of added time.
It’s now nine games unbeaten in all competitions, but it’s hardly been convincing and the performances have been very uninspiring. During that run the Reds have failed to beat Sunderland, Leeds (twice) and Fulham.
Up next, a trip to the Emirates to face league leaders Arsenal.
