Robert Williams is linked with the Los Angeles Lakers in order to provide much needed help on defense in the frontcourt.
Los Angeles Lakers won only two of their previous six games, sitting at 5th place in the Western Conference with a 21-11 record.

Among other things, lack of adequate defenders on the center position is highly remarked as one of Lakers' biggest concerns.
Even with Jaxson Hayes' emergence this year, opinions are frequent that Lakers need one more center behind Deandre Ayton to cover some of the defensive issues.
According to Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale, Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams III could be a solid low-cost addition to help improve the roster.
“Even with Jaxson Hayes exceeding expectations, a higher-end big man behind Deandre Ayton is a need, too. Robert Williams III retains his vertical gravity along with his defensive mobility and disruption if he’s healthy,” Favale wrote.
“This is a big if, but that uncertainty should permit L.A. to make a play for him without surrendering any serious draft equity.”
Williams wouldn't be a player that would make the Lakers risk much, as he's coming to an end of his four-year contract worth $48 million.
He played more than 50 games in a season just twice in his seven-year career, but already played 23 times this season with the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 6 points and 6.3 rebounds in 16 minutes per game.
