Man City star finalising move to Germany

Manchester City closed the gap at the top of the Premier League to four points with a victory over manageress Chelsea on Sunday.

Calum MacFarlane took charge of the Blues at The Etihad, following the departure of Enzo Maresca last week, but his side were behind at the break courtesy of Tijjani Reijnders’ fourth goal of the season so far.

Despite a valiant effort, Chelsea were unable to find an equaliser and now sit sixth in the top flight table, having won just one of their last eight matches in the competitions.

City, meanwhile, remain second in the Premier League table but now sit just four points behind leaders Arsenal.

Off the pitch, however, it has emerged that one of City’s academy graduates is close to completing a move away from the club.

As per Football Insider, defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is heading to Germany to undergo a medical ahead of a proposed move to Bundesliga side FC Koln.

The report claims that the Bundesliga outfit are set to sign the 20-year-old on loan for the remainder of the current campaign, with the deal also set to see the German side sign the player permanently this summer.

Simpson-Pusey is a product of City’s fruitful academy and has now made six appearances for the Manchester club across all competitions.

He was sent on loan to Scottish champions Celtic at the start of the current campaign, but has made just two appearances for the club so far and featured just once in the Scottish Premiership.

The defender – who can play centrally or at right-back – is now set to be recalled to The Etihad before joining Koln on loan.

Several Championship clubs were said to be interested in the Englishman, while French side Strasbourg – under the same ownership group as Chelsea – were also credited with an interest.
