(Video): Enzo Fernandez squeezes in last minute equaliser for Chelsea against Man City

Chelsea have equalised against Man City in extra time!

The Blues had defended really well all game, and had let themselves down with wasting some promising attacks.

But they kept going, and as Man City wasted chance after chance the Blues began to sniff a goal. It looked like it wouldn’t come, but then a single moment of magic from Malo Gusto changed everything. The full back had been running like a maniac all game, and just moments before had pulled up with what looked like a tweak after hitting the City by-line once again.

But somehow he found the energy to surge past Josko Gvardiol from a standing start, beat him for pace, then put a cross into the box.

It evaded everyone, with Liam Delap’s attempt to reach it putting off Gianluigi Donarumma, and made it to Enzo Fernandez. He scuffed his first shot right into the goalkeeper, but managed to squeeze in the follow up.

Overall, given the circumstances, we’re happy with a point and how things went. The players didn’t give up when they had plenty of excuses and reasons to do just that. After a nightmarish run, this goal was a nice moment for all Chelsea fans to enjoy.

In other news…

Reece James has done well in the game, but Chelsea should really consider taking him off, simply because there are so many games to play over the next few weeks – and today might be beyond us.

Chelsea’s team for this game had a few expected and a few unexpected changes, and you can see the full lineup here.
