Manchester City 1 Chelsea 1: City player ratings from City’s disappointing draw with Chelsea.

Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City [drew 1-all](https://esteemedkompany.com/2026/01/04/manchester-city-1-chelsea-1-pep-guardiolas-side-throw-two-points-away-at-the-etihad/) with Chelsea at the Etihad. It seemed that Tijjani Reijnders 42nd minute goal was enough to secure all three points for Pep Guardiola’s side. But it wasn’t to be as Enzo Fernandez scored a 94th minute equaliser to ensure that Chelsea came away with a point tonight.

Injuries continue to mount up for City as Josko Gvardiol is the latest player to go down injured. But City only have themselves to blame as they had their chances to put Chelsea away but a penchant to be too cute in the final third cost City dearly. Credit must got to Chelsea for never giving in but the result did feel like a bad one for Pep Guardiola’s side.

City player ratings

-------------------

**Gianluigi Donnarumma-7/10:** Made one good save and could do little about Chelsea’s equaliser. His play with his feet was better I thought.

**Matheus Nunes-7.5/10:** Another solid display from Nunes up against Pedro Neto.

**Ruben Dias-7/10:** Another solid performance from Ruben Dias. Defended well and helped set the tone for his team.

**Josko Gvardiol-6.5/10:** Unfortunately, Gvardiol picked up an injury and had to be taken off after 50 minutes. He had played well up until that point. The hope is that his injury isn’t too serious.

**Nico O’Reilly-6.5/10:** Defended well and won his duels when required. Didn’t offer a lot going forward as he does look tired. Unfortunately, O’Reilly lost a crucial challenge against Malo Gusto which directly to Chelsea’s late equaliser. It was a harsh lesson for O’Reilly late on.

**Rodri-9/10:** A brilliant performance from Rodri. He was brilliant on the ball and was superb out of possession.

**Tijjani Reijnders-7.5****/10:** Reijnders’ goal was superb but I also liked his overall game. He helped City dominate possession and he does seem to be up to speed with what it takes to play in the Premier League.

**Bernardo Silva-7/10:** Another workman like performance from Bernardo Silva. Gave all he could for the cause.

**Rayan Cherki-6/10:** Not Cherki’s best performance. He took too long in possession at times and his touch was just off.

**Phil Foden-6/10:** Not Foden’s best display again. His decision-making wasn’t at his best and his performance was that of a tired player.

**Erling Haaland-6.5/10:** Haaland hit the post and had his moments. Unfortunately, he couldn’t grab a goal and that proved to be crucial.

Substitutes

-----------

**Abdukodir Khusanov-7/10:** I thought Khusanov was superb after coming on. He dealt with the threat of Liam Delap well in a strong display.

**Jeremy Doku-6/10:** Had his moments but couldn’t impact the game he would have liked.

**Nathan Ake-N/A:** Not on long enough to mark.
