Curtis Jones: Draw With Fulham Is “Hard To Take”

For the second match in a row, Liverpool dropped points against a bottom half side. While it wasn’t a great performance by any stretch of the imagination, the draw against Fulham will certainly sting more as the Reds offense momentarily came alive to see them score a late goal that seemed like a winner, only to conceded just a couple minutes later at the very end of the match. After the match, midfielder Curtis Jones said the draw was hard to take.

> In the first half we had the ball a lot, we tried and it didn’t come off as much. At half-time we spoke about that we’ve got to show more heart and things like that. That’s what we went and did. We came back with two goals and then they go and score a goal like that. It’s hard to take.

The Scouser said he felt it was certainly a better performance against Fulham compared to the dull 0-0 draw with Leeds just a few days prior. He still felt the side should have come away a full three points that were sorely needed as Liverpool is trying to cement their place in the top four.

> If you’re giving away a lead, especially at a time like this when we need all our points, it’s always hard. I definitely think it was a better game all round than the Leeds game, 100 per cent. But as I said, we always want to come away with all three points, that’s what we’ll always try. It doesn’t matter if we’re playing against any team away, for the talent on the pitch and things like that, I feel like we should go and win games like that.

With the draw, Liverpool are now unbeaten in 9 straight matches dating back to late November. The Reds will face an extremely stiff test this Thursday as the head to London to take on Arsenal. Liverpool defeated the Gunners early in the season thanks to an incredible late free kick by Dominik Szoboszlai. Curtis Jones said the Reds will go into the match with their heads held high as Arsenal try to exact revenge for one of their two losses on the season.

> It’s a big one but all games are big. And I’ve said already, especially now when we need all our points. Arsenal is a huge, huge game; they are on a great run and obviously they are top of the league. Of course, the first game they played against us, we obviously won, so they’ll be trying to get revenge on us. We’re going there with our heads high and we’ll go and try to win.
