Burrying seven triples against Miami, Murphy III surpassed CJ McCollum in New Orleans' all-time threes made.
Trey Murphy III is now the three-point king of the New Orleans Pelicans' franchise history.
In the team's 125-106 loss against the Miami Heat, Murphy secured the historic feat as he finished with 27 points.
His seven three-pointers on Sunday are already more than enough to surpass CJ McCollum (692 three-pointers made) from the Pels' all-time leaderboard.
“He meant a lot," Murphy said about his former teammate. "He was a big veteran presence for me. He taught me a lot on an off the court. Just watching how he conducted himself was very instrumental for me growing as a player and a man.
"He’s one of the first people who texted me.”
Murphy is currently enjoying a career year, averaging 20.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 38.4 percent from the field.
