“What’s his thought process?” - Jamie Carragher names Liverpool star who looks ‘a bit mad’ whenever he plays

Former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher offered his thoughts on left-back Milos Kerkez. The Hungarian has been at Anfield since arriving from AFC Bournemouth in the summer.

Kerkez, 22, has scored once in 26 games across competitions for the Reds, with that lone strike coming in 19 outings in the Premier League, where Arne Slot's side are fourth after 20 games, 14 points behind runaway leaders Arsenal.

In his most recent match for the defending Premier League champions, Kerkez played the full 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw at Fulham at the weekend.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Carragher - who plied his trade at Anfield between 1996 and 2013 - said that Kerkez seems to have a lack of clarity about how he goes about his business on the field:

"Sometimes when you watch Kerkez, it's like having Darwin Nunez at left-back. He's just a bit mad. There's no real sort of what's his thought process, what's he doing with the ball, how's he connected with the other players. He's just head-down, run."

Kerkez's only goal for the Reds came in the 3-2 defeat at Brentford in October. Since then, he has gone 10 league games without a goal contribution, with Arne Slot's side going unbeaten in the last eight, winning four.

"We had out chances in the first half" - Liverpool boss on Fulham draw

Liverpool boss Arne Slot said that his team failed to capitalise on their chances in the Premier League draw at Fulham on Sunday. The Reds trailed at half-time following Harry Wilson's 17th-minute opener.

They equalised through Florian Wirtz 12 minutes into the second period before Cody Gakpo seemed to have scored the winner four minutes into stoppage time. However, there was still time for Harrison Reed to smash home a superb curling equaliser three minutes later to force a share of the spoils.

"In an away game, scoring two goals should maybe be enough to win the game," Slot told Sky Sports (as per the BBC).

"It's not for the first time this season that we fight so hard and think we have a win but concede an incredible strike. We brought Joe Gomez in, but they took it short. We missed out on a good result."

Bemoaning his team's squandered chances to take all three points, the Dutchman continued:

"We had our chances in the first half. We had a similar one with Cody Gakpo that they scored from. In an ideal world, we see a Liverpool team that is dominant but creates more chances. We scored two goals, scored two disallowed goals and hit the bar. Again, it wasn't enough."

The Reds return to action on Thursday (January 8) at league leaders Arsenal before welcoming Barnsley in their FA Cup opener four days later.
