Marco Silva is adamant it would have been “completely unfair” had Liverpool earned dramatic victory at Fulham. The Reds took the lead in the fourth minute of injury time through Cody Gakpo after Florian Wirtz had earlier equalised a first-half opener from former Liverpool Academy graduate Harry Wilson.
But Fulham earned a point three minutes later with substitute Harrison Reed smashing in from 25 yards to secure a 2-2 Premier League draw at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
And Silva was unimpressed the intervention was required to prevent Arne Slot’s side from taking all three points.

“For some reason we were about to lose a game, which was completely unfair,” he said. “To be 2-1 down was completely unfair given everything we did throughout the game.
“We changed some of the set-up, we wanted to start with Tom Cairney in the middle of the pitch, we wanted him to give us more time on the ball.
“We know Liverpool have the capacity to overload the wide areas very well, and we were set up to cover the half-spaces.
“Our possession was good in the first half and our first goal was a brilliant run, the combination was top level and what a finish from Harry – every time he touches the ball at the moment is magical.
“There were not many chances for Liverpool in the first half but they had a lot of the ball. I would have wanted more of the ball but to be leading at half-time was deserved.”
Silva added: “We should have reacted more for their equaliser, and after that Liverpool were better for 15 minutes and pushed us back, but we reacted well to that.
“We had more energy at the end with the substitutes and pushed to win the game but found ourselves 2-1 down.
“But what a moment from Harrison, an incredible moment. Total inspiration from himself. It’s something he is capable of doing, but I wouldn’t expect him to score from there.
“It was a fair result, it wasn’t a game we should have lost.”
Wirtz’s equaliser was initially disallowed for offside until the decision was overturned after a lengthy VAR check, despite television pictures appearing less than conclusive.
And Silva said: “We felt the same, many people in the stadium felt the same, but the semi-automatic we have to believe in it. They have to be 100% sure of it.
“It took a long time for something that should be automatic. They have all the tools to decide it right so let’s hope they did.”
