Enzo Fernandez’ added-time goal earned managerless Chelsea an impressive draw against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
Under-21s head coach Calum MacFarlane took charge of the Blues for their first match since the departure of Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day, but the visitors fell behind at The Etihad shortly before half-time when Tijjani Reijnders broke the deadlock.
Neither side were able to find the new after the break and City looked set to cut Arsenal’s advantage at the top of the Premier League table to four points, until Fernandez equalised deep into added-time, flicking the ball into the net at the third attempt.
The Blues remain fifth in the top flight table, while City now sit six points behind leaders Arsenal.
In the meantime, it appears that Chelsea’s search for a successor to Maresca could soon be coming to an end.
According to indykaila News, the west London outfit are close to appointing Liam Rosenior as their new manager.
The 41-year-old is currently head coach of French side Strasbourg, who are under the same BlueCo ownership group as Chelsea.
Rosenior emerged as the early frontrunner to succeed Maresca at Stamford Bridge, and the report claims that the Englishman is now set to be named as Chelsea’s new manager.

It is also claimed that the ex-Hull City boss has explicitly asked for his new club to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi during the current January transfer window.
Guehi has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park and came close to joining Liverpool last summer, but it is claimed that the England international could be difficult to lure away from Palace during the mid-season window.
Rosenior took charge of Strasbourg in the summer of 2024 having previously managed Hull City, and has since won 32 of his 63 matches in charge of the French side across all competitions.
