Devin Booker has never lacked confidence, but his latest clutch moment against the Oklahoma City Thunder offered a sharp reminder of just how comfortable he is under pressure.
On Sunday night, Booker drilled a game-winning three with 0.7 seconds remaining to lift the Phoenix Suns to a dramatic 108-105 comeback victory.
The shot capped a furious rally and handed Oklahoma City just their sixth loss of the season, coming against elite defense with Alex Caruso contesting tightly.
In typical Booker fashion, the moment was followed by a blunt, unfiltered response during his postgame media availability.
Devin Booker Delivers Again in the Biggest Moment
After the game, Booker was asked about the difficulty of taking the final shot with Caruso defending him, widely regarded as one of the league’s top perimeter stoppers.
“That’s Alex Caruso guarding you,” a reporter said. “That’s one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. What’s your confidence level that you can get up a good look against that level of defender in that situation?”
Booker’s response was immediate and blunt, “Yeah pretty confident.”
The play itself mirrored that confidence. Needing a made shot, Booker took the inbounds pass, created just enough separation, and rose without hesitation.
Caruso stayed attached through the release, but the shot never looked rushed. Once Booker elevated, the outcome felt inevitable.
Booker finished with 24 points and nine assists, shooting 5-of-11 from the field. He hit just one three on the night, but it was the one that mattered most.
He also went 13-of-15 from the free-throw line, controlling the offense late as Phoenix erased a double-digit deficit to steal the win.
The loss snapped Oklahoma City’s four-game winning streak and dropped the Thunder to 30-6 on the season.
After opening the year 24-1 and matching the best 25-game start in NBA history, Oklahoma City have now gone 6-5 since, cooling after their historic beginning.
For Phoenix, the victory served as a needed statement. The Suns improved to 21-14 and remain seventh in the Western Conference as they continue searching for consistency in a tightly packed playoff race.
They have now won two straight games and six of their last seven, building momentum after a difficult stretch.
Booker’s Moment Highlights Suns’ Collective Effort
While the spotlight belonged to Booker, Phoenix received critical contributions elsewhere. Jordan Goodwin delivered a career night off the bench, scoring 26 points while knocking down eight three-pointers on 9-of-16 shooting.
His scoring punch proved vital in matching Oklahoma City’s intensity and keeping the Suns within striking distance.
Dillon Brooks also chipped in with 22 points, four rebounds, and two assists, providing steady production alongside Booker’s late-game control.
Postgame, head coach Jordan Ott highlighted Goodwin’s performance while also crediting Booker’s playmaking.
“I’m not sure we win that one without Jordan Goodwin,” Ott said. “A lot of the corner threes that Goody got were because our superstar passes the basketball. The unselfishness of the group starts with your best player.
“He had nine assists, but I’m sure if you count the hockey assists, he probably had 15.”
In the end, the night will be remembered for the shot, but Booker’s response captured the essence of the moment. Against elite defense, with the game on the line, he never doubted himself.
