Manchester United have become the second Premier League club to sack their manager in 2026, after Chelsea did so last week.
And just like Enzo Maresca’s departure, Amorim’s sacking was about a falling out with the owners as much as the results on the pitch.
The West London club will now be keeping a close eye on Man Utd’s managerial search in the coming days.
It would be an absolute nightmare for the Chelsea hierarchy if the Red Devils made one particular decision.
How would you feel about Enzo Maresca going to Man Utd? 🤔

Chelsea will not want Enzo Maresca to join Man Utd
Chelsea have already decided to appoint Liam Rosenior as their next head coach, so Man Utd will not interfere with their plans.
However, United could replace Amorim with Maresca, who is now available after leaving the Blues last week.
This would be a terrible situation for Chelsea for several reasons, starting with potential embarrassment.
If Maresca were to succeed at Old Trafford, Blues fans would never forgive the board for letting him go.

Secondly, Man Utd are in direct competition with Chelsea for Champions League qualification this season.
By helping United finish in the top five, Maresca could cost his former club millions and stop them from signing top players in the next transfer window.
Finally, as long as Maresca is in the Premier League, he will always be compared to Chelsea’s current manager.
In this case, Rosenior will be under pressure not only to succeed at Stamford Bridge but also to outperform his Italian counterpart.

Man Utd could benefit from ‘new manager bounce’ under Enzo Maresca
Managers often get off to a strong start when they join a new club, but Enzo Maresca would have a particularly good chance of success early in his Man Utd tenure.
Everyone knows that one of Ruben Amorim’s biggest issues at United was his stubbornness with his system.
Amorim likes to play a back five with wing-backs, but he did not have the players at his disposal to make it work.
Whereas Maresca would probably select a 4-2-3-1 formation, as he did at Chelsea, which should allow several key players to thrive.
His fresh ideas could give a significant boost to the United players and fans, and help him enjoy a ‘new manager bounce’.
