Perspective in football can often be lost but Newcastle United have been offered some by two of their biggest rivals for the European places in the Premier League in the past week.
Eddie Howe has come under some intense scrutiny for the last month, and a lot of it has been justified. But it has been my belief, and the belief of a lot of Newcastle fans, that he absolutely remains the best man for the job.
That is not the view of every fan this season, of course, but while some of the criticism on social media has been fierce, that hasn't been mirrored on the terraces on matchday where Howe's name has been routinely chanted by the Toon Army, both home and away.
And the fact Chelsea and Manchester United have both sacked their managers in the past week and Howe has immediately been linked with replacing them is a timely reminder of what an asset Newcastle currently have in their dugout.
If Thomas Tuchel leaves his post as England manager after this summer's World Cup, Howe will almost certainly be the FA's most coveted homegrown target.
That is not to say some of the performances this season have been beyond criticism. Far from it. But his body of work over the last four years has been incredible and, rightly, has given him plenty of credit in the bank.
Two Champions League qualifications, two cup finals and the first manager to deliver a domestic major trophy on Tyneside in 70 years, Howe has earned the right to be given the time and patience to reinvigorate Newcastle's season.
The underlying numbers, as well as back-to-back wins in the Premier League, are signals that his Magpies team are on the way to doing that and with a Carabao Cup semi-final and potentially Newcastle's first ever Champions League knockout match to look forward to, they could well end this season with a bang, too.
And it is that body of work that continually sees Howe receiving admiring glances from other clubs. Sometimes you don't realise what you have until it has gone and Newcastle should use the interest he has received from elsewhere as a barometer of that.
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has already called on his former club to look towards Howe. Jamie Carragher continually beats the drum in the media of Howe's standing in the game.
Some of Newcastle's performances, particularly away from home this season, haven't been good enough and Howe has never shied away from that.
He has had legitimate questions to answer this term but the bigger picture is that Newcastle still have the best man for the job currently in their dugout.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea tried exciting, young and dynamic appointments and neither Amorim or Enzo Maresca managed to last two seasons in post.
Both of those examples should make Newcastle feel careful about what they wish for, even before the fact their manager has been linked with both roles.
