Former Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has responded to Ruben Amorim's sacking by 'liking' a social media post.

The Portuguese manager was relieved of his Manchester United duties after 14 months at the helm, following his explosive remarks made in the aftermath of their 1-1 stalemate with Leeds United.

Garnacho has now delivered one final parting shot at his ex-boss despite having already completed his unceremonious exit from Old Trafford during the summer, after their relationship deteriorated beyond repair. The 21-year-old was amongst several United players who found themselves relegated to the bomb squad and instructed to seek alternative employment elsewhere.

Months following the winger's switch to Chelsea, Amorim received his marching orders from United after his surprising remarks exposed simmering tensions within the club, reports the Manchester Evening News. In an official statement, the club said: "Ruben Amorim has departed his role as Head Coach of Manchester United. Ruben was appointed in November 2024 and led the team to a UEFA Europa League Final in Bilbao in May.

"With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club's leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.

"The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future. Darren Fletcher will take charge of the team against Burnley on Wednesday."

Fabrizio Romano shared the news on social media, particularly his Instagram account, and amongst those responding was the former United winger, who liked the post. The Argentine was offloaded to Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer after losing favour with the Portuguese manager. Garnacho appeared increasingly discontented during the final period of his United stint as he found himself sidelined for crucial fixtures, including the Europa League final in May.

When Garnacho was recently questioned about whether he had any regrets over his decision to depart Old Trafford, he responded: "No. No. Sometimes in life you need to change things to take a step forward or improve as a player. It was the right moment, and the right club. So it was an easy decision."

Back in May, Amorim informed Garnacho that he would be permitted to join a new club during the summer after being omitted from the final match of the campaign against Aston Villa. Garnacho had expressed his dissatisfaction with the choice to exclude him from the starting eleven for their European cup final loss.

In response, the manager stated: "He is a Manchester United player that is not in the squad today, but he continues to be a Manchester United player."
