Sorba Thomas is apparently on the shortlist of Premier League Bournemouth as they brace themselves for Antoine Semenyo's £65 million move to Manchester City.

Thomas, aged 26, has been a huge success at Stoke City since his move from Huddersfield in the summer for an undisclosed fee believed to be about £1.5m.

He has scored nine and set up another six, as well as forcing an own goal, as he has emerged as a key player under Mark Robins in a team that is pushing for the Championship top six. There is no overstating the Wales winger's impact in a starting XI that had been fighting at the other end of the table last season.

Thomas is clearly loving life at Stoke, saying he has found a home to play his best football after a tough end to his time at Huddersfield, from where he had loans to Blackburn Rovers and Nantes.

But the Daily Mail claim that he and Leicester City forward Abdul Fatawu have been "added to Bournemouth's list of potential Semenyo replacements".

They add: "Thomas has come under consideration after an impressive season in the Championship."

Stoke have not been expected to sell any of their first team players in January as they try to sustain a challenge for the play-offs for the first time since returning to the Championship in 2018.

Thomas is under contract until 2028 and he told StokeonTrentLive recently: “I see this as my second home. I’ve loved every single minute since I’ve been here. The fans have made me feel welcome from Day One, from meeting them all at Crewe. From that moment I knew something special could happen with this club this year.

“You see in the Championship anyone can beat anyone and for us I think what summed it up for me was the reaction after the game on Saturday. A lot of teams would have got booed or loads of insults but our fans stuck with us, clapped the boys. That’s an amazing feeling which showed how together fans and players are. We’re going as one in the same direction.

“The longer we keep that up I feel like success can be at the end of it.”
