Man City 'explore move' for Guehi after Liverpool transfer collapse

Linked: Marc Guehi could swap Crystal Palace for Manchester City this month

BBC Sport report that City are interested in the England international after suffering a double injury blow against Chelsea on Sunday.

First-choice centre-backs Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias both were forced off in the 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium, which saw Pep Guardiola’s side lose further ground in the Premier League title race on league leaders Arsenal.

It leaves Nathan Ake and Abdukodir Khusanov as the only other options at the heart of defence, with John Stones already on the treatment table.

Guardiola has recalled Max Alleyne from his loan spell at Watford to assist with the lack of numbers.

Now, City have turned their attentions to a new centre-back this January, and England international Guehi is an option.

The Palace skipper has entered the last six months of his deal at Selhurst Park.

He saw a move to Liverpool collapse at the 11th hour on Deadline Day last year, and he is highly unlikely to sign a new contract in south London.

Because Guehi is into the remaining months of his deal, it means that he can sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club.

Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid all have him on their radars, while Liverpool’s interest remains.

Guehi has missed just one game for Palace this season, absent from the goalless draw with Brighton back in November.
