The headlines may have been elsewhere on Monday, but there has still been news at Liverpool regarding a potential transfer for Federico Chiesa.
Juventus want Federico Chiesa transfer
Following rumours in the Italian press last week that Juventus were interested in Chiesa, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has now backed up the reports.
He wrote: “Juventus made formal contact to show interest in Federico Chiesa over possible return in January. Juve are looking to add +1 winger this month and Chiesa is appreciated.”
Chiesa signed from Juventus for £12.5 million just 18 months ago, but he hasn’t reached the potential he showed earlier in his career despite becoming a favourite among supporters.

Romano added that the “decision up to Liverpool and the player,” and it is “still early stages” for any move.
While Chiesa has only started once in the Premier League this season, it still seems unlikely Liverpool would sanction a move for him given their lack of depth in attack.
With Alexander Isak out until the spring and Hugo Ekitike suffering from fitness issues when playing multiple times per week, the 28-year-old could play a bigger part over the next couple of months.
Chiesa still has more than two years left on his contract, too, but when linked with a return to Turin in the summer, he commented: “Never say never.”

Following Liverpool’s draw at Craven Cottage, supporters accused Arne Slot‘s team of lacking identity. Sam Millne and Adam Beattie discussed the fallout:
“The Reds’ pressing is non-existent at times, with the team instead being asked to drop into their own half for large periods instead of trying to win the ball back or force an error in opposition territory.
“They instead deploy fearful tactics, sitting in their own half instead of attempting to turn the ball over high up the pitch.”

It was written in the stars, wasn’t it?
When Virgil van Dijk strode onto the pitch for the first time at Anfield, the stage was set for the Dutchman to announce himself in an FA Cup derby against Everton.
On January 5, 2018, Van Dijk scored an 84th-minute header to put Liverpool 2-1 up and put the Reds through, into the fourth round of the cup and past Everton.
James Milner and Gylfi Sigurdsson were the other players to get on the scoresheet on that memorable night.
