Timothée Chalamet's Liverpool connection has continued as he was filmed chatting to Adolescence star Owen Cooper at the Critics Choice Awards last night. The 30-year-old is the man of the moment and his incredible performance in Marty Supreme was recognised with the Best Actor gong at the ceremony in Santa Monica.

The Critics Choice Award win comes after the Hollywood star accepted the spotlight award at The Palm Springs International Film Awards on Saturday, as he seems well in contention to receive the Academy Award for his performance at the upcoming Oscars. Marty Supreme sees Timothée play the title character in the Josh Safdie directed film, which follows Marty's pursuit to become the world tennis table champion in the 1950s.

Throughout the press run for the film, which is out in cinemas now, Timothée was repeatedly questioned on whether he was actually the mystery Scouse rapper, EsDeeKid. The speculation started when people spotted a picture of EsDeeKid posted on social media shared a striking resemblance with the Dune star's eyes.

Timothée fuelled speculation in interviews with the BBC with his evasive response to the questions, as he teased "all will soon be revealed". It has since been confirmed that Timothee is not EsDeeKid as he released a collaboration with the Liverpool rapper that appeared to be filmed in a council house.

The Hollywood star's Liverpool connection is showing no signs of slowing as he was filmed chatting to another rising star, Owen Cooper, after the awards last night.

Owen, who took home the prize for best supporting actor in a limited series for his role in Adolescence, shared a picture on Instagram after the ceremony, as he referenced the viral craze, by tagging in EsDeeKid instead of Timothée.

A clip filmed by E News showed the two having a chat before the photo was taken. Owen, 16, is a huge Liverpool FC fan and was at Anfield for when the Reds sealed the title last season with a 5 - 1 win over Tottenham.

In the clip, Timothee ask Owen about his phone background, which the Adolescence star appears to confirm is a tribute to Diogo Jota. The A Complete Unknown star pays tribute to the late Portuguese forward as he said: "Diogo Jota man, RIP.”

The Call Me By Your Name star then went on to ask Owen, who hails from Warrington, if he was from Liverpool. The clip has gone viral on social media with one account named Notion caption their post: "Timothee Chalamet asking Owen Cooper whether he's scouse was not what we expected. from the Critics Choice, but here we are."

In his speech, Timothée paid tribute to Marty Supreme director Josh Safdie, as he said: "Thanks for crafting a role and his story. Josh, you made a story about a flawed man with a relatable dream, and you didn’t preach to the audience about what’s right and wrong. And I think we should all be telling stories like that.”

He also paid tribute to his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, as he added: "Lastly, I’ll just say thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
