The brutal Liverpool and Real Madrid swap deal that could be the only way to sign huge Reds…

Fulham 2-2 Liverpool: Match Review

Liverpool may be forced to sacrifice a huge player of their own if they want to sign this leading transfer target

Liverpool have their eye on several household names who would become marquee signings if they managed to secure a deal this year. Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga is one of them, but it’ll take an offer the Spanish powerhouse club cannot turn down to make it happen.

The Reds are exploring options to strengthen their attack and defence over the coming weeks but they’ve also been keen on a new midfielder for a while now.

Camavinga is a long-standing target for Liverpool, stretching back to when Jurgen Klopp was in charge. However, Madrid are not currently interested in striking a deal with the Premier League side.

Real Madrid snub Liverpool offer for Eduardo Camavinga

Real Madrid is concerned that selling Camavinga would ‘weaken’ their operation and ‘send the wrong message to the dressing room’. As a young and versatile player, it’s only natural that the club are defensive of his status within the team and want to keep him on the books as long as possible.

Liverpool will know this feeling, as some of their own players are being targeted by rival clubs. However, this could be their only way to convince Madrid to give up Camavinga.

Liverpool could suggest brutal Real Madrid swap deal

If Real Madrid are adamant no amount of money will convince them to sell Camavinga, the Premier League champions may have their hand forced. If they are serious about signing the Frenchman, they may have no other choice but to sacrifice one of their own.

Alexis Mac Allister is a player Madrid have been linked with for several months now, and a report from AS on January 2nd claims that he is still on their shortlist. It was also reported last summer that Xabi Alonso’s side were considering submitting a mammoth €100 million (£87m) offer in attempt to sign the Argentina international.

With Mac Allister still high on their shortlist, Real Madrid may be forced to think twice about seeing Camavinga leave, if the Liverpool star was involved in a deal. It would be a huge hit for the Reds, as he has been an integral part of both Klopp and Arne Slot teams.

But football and the transfer windows are all about the shock factor. Sometimes, sacrifices are made to contribute to the bigger picture. If Liverpool are serious about Camavinga and see him as a key player for the future, they may not have another choice but to consider offering up Mac Allister.

The midfielder himself has alluded to changes unfolding at Anfield, which has raised some questions about his future. He recently gave an honest and brutal summary of the atmosphere within the team, after a nightmare run of results made chances of becoming Premier League champions again all but impossible.

“There are not many chances of Liverpool retaining the title. I hate to say it, but it is quite clear. Arsenal is in a really good moment, Manchester City is quite close, but we are not close in terms of performances, or results, so I do not see us becoming champions again,” Mac Allister told Sky Sports.

“It hurts, many things have changed from last season and it is not ideal, but that is the situation we are in and we have to face it and keep working to get better.

“Many things changed as I said, new players came in to replace those who left, we changed too many things, but I prefer to keep it to myself.”
