"I don't think he's asking for a trade, but I don't think he's telling [the Hawks] not to trade him," Spears said on NBA Today. "I'm hearing he's open-minded to being moved. I do think he'd certainly be open-minded to a new uniform."
Meanwhile, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that the Hawks have sent a clear signal they are ready to move in a different direction. Atlanta declined to sign Young to a contract extension and has begun exploring potential trade options.
Young is in the final year of his current deal, though he holds a player option for next season worth more than $48 million.
Now in his eighth NBA season, the 27-year-old guard is averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per game, while shooting 30.5 percent from three-point range in 10 appearances for Atlanta this season.
