Past reports suggest that there is still a possibility that VanVleet will appear for the Rockets this 2025-26 season.
Many were surprised by reports that there is a possibility that Fred VanVleet could make his appearance this season.
VanVleet, who tore his ACL just days before the Houston Rockets' training camp, is expected to miss the entire season. But it has been revealed recently that the franchise isn't ruling out a potential return.
As such, head coach Ime Udoka addressed the ongoing recovery progress of VanVleet amid previous reports that the Houston veteran might become available this 2025-26 campaign.
“Looking at the progression, I've had a few [torn ACLs] so I know the week-to-week progression, how much you can really start to do and the progression you can see in general," Udoka said.
“He's taking strides, and he's hit these benchmarks. But for us, we're operating as if he won't be back this year, but we know the possibility is there based on timeline. If we get him back, [we’ll be] pleasantly surprised, obviously.”
Time can only tell if VanVleet will fully recover to aid the Rockets for a deep title run later this season.
