Much has been said about Dani Olmo’s time at FC Barcelona so far. The club put in a significant financial effort to sign the Spaniard in the summer of 2024 from RB Leipzig, at a time when the club’s coffers were not exactly rich.
Given the effort to bring him back, the Spanish attacking midfielder’s performances have been a mixed bag. In the 2025/26 season especially, he did not start well, struggling to nail down the no. 10 role and being outshone by Fermin Lopez.

The Spaniard’s superb strike broke the deadlock for the Catalan club minutes before the full-time whistle.
Olmo has won six points for his team so far this season. Add this to the eight points he won for the team last season and that makes fourteen points, which is almost equivalent to five wins. If that is not being decisive, what is?
**“This is just the beginning,”** was the caption the Spanish attacking midfielder chose for his social media post after the Espanyol win. It almost seems like a metaphorical ode to what he expects from 2026.
Olmo, at his best, is right up there with some of the world’s leading attacking midfielders. His strengths, when in full flow, make Barcelona markedly better as a team, and it bodes well that he has now scored in three consecutive league appearances, albeit separated by a shoulder dislocation.
If the Spaniard can finally come into his own in 2026, there is no doubt that Barcelona are primed for an even better second half of the season. Let us wait and see how things play out in the weeks to come.
