NBA Official Admits Mistake After Steve Kerr Ejection vs Clippers

Steve Kerr's night ended early for the Golden State Warriors in their matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

During the fourth quarter, a heated moment between Kerr and the officials led to the Warriors' head coach getting ejected from the matchup before his team teased a potential comeback.

Ultimately, the comeback attempt was a failure, and the Warriors left the court in Los Angeles with a loss to add to their record.

NBA Official Explains the Situation

Following the game, the Crew Chief Brian Forte spoke with ClutchPoints' Tomer Azarly to clear up the situation with Kerr.

"For the first technical foul, Coach Kerr aggressively approached the official while shouting profanities," Forte explained.

"After the first technical was called, he continued shouting profanities while being held back by his assistant coach. And led to the second technical foul."

At the time, it was clear that an uncalled goaltending led to Kerr getting heated. While it seems the head coach was warranted in getting frustrated, his reaction was over the top.

"The shot by [Gary] Payton hit the backboard prior to being touched by Collins. It should have been ruled a goaltending violation," Forte explained.

"The only way it could have been reviewed was if it was called on the floor and the Clippers challenged the call, because it did not occur in the last two minutes of the game."

Since the game wasn't in the final two minutes, automatic review was not an option.

Kerr is the second member of the Warriors to leave with two technical fouls in two games. When the Warriors faced the Utah Jazz over the weekend, the veteran forward Draymond Green was in a similar situation, getting tossed in the first half.

More Warriors News: Steve Kerr Ejection Leads to Rare Postgame Scene for Warriors

After Monday's game, Kerr declined an opportunity to speak with the media. Instead, his lead assistant, Terry Stotts, took postgame press duty.

The 19-18 Warriors will get Tuesday to cool off and recover. They'll get back home and on the court on Wednesday night to face the Milwaukee Bucks.
