The January transfer window is in full swing but Liverpool have yet to show their cards. The Reds were dealt a late blow against Fulham on Sunday when the Cottagers secured a thrilling 2-2 draw with a last-minute wonder goal.

This second consecutive draw, along with mounting injury worries, has led some fans and pundits to call for reinforcements. Arne Slot's Liverpool signings so far have seen him bring in five attacking players and two forward-thinking full backs.

Three goalkeepers and one centre-back also made up his 11 signings. Interestingly, Slot's final transfers at his previous club Feyenoord mirror his signings at Liverpool, providing a snapshot of the type of player the Dutch manager prefers to recruit.

Anis Hadj Moussa - winger

Signed under Slot but joining the club after the Dutchman had moved to Liverpool, Moussa, 23, has been a constant threat for Feyenoord. The right-sided player has netted 18 goals and provided seven assists in 63 games for the Dutch side.

With Liverpool needing more firepower from the flanks following the departure of Luis Diaz, it could be promising that Slot has a history of successful recruitment in this area.

With Rio Ngumoha finding it hard to get game time and Federico Chiesa not quite winning over Slot, it's likely that Liverpool will be on the hunt for a left winger soon. Moussa's success at Feyenoord suggests that Slot has a keen eye for talent in wide positions.

Mikki van Sas - goalkeeper

Slot brought Van Sas to Feyenoord from Manchester City's academy on a free transfer in September 2023. The 21-year-old keeper didn't manage to make a single appearance for Feyenoord and was loaned out to Vitesse in the Netherlands.

Despite being on the bench for Feyenoord in the Champions League and Europa League, he eventually moved to Wycombe Wanderers. This suggests that Slot likes to have plenty of options when it comes to goalkeepers.

He's already signed three keepers during his time at Liverpool, with Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman all coming on board. However, only Marmadashvili has seen regular action in Alisson Becker's absence, while Woodman has made a single start in the Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

Luka Ivanusec - attacking midfielder

The Croatian playmaker joined Feyenoord in August 2023. In 55 games, Ivanusec scored four goals and provided seven assists. Despite making progress at the Dutch club, he was sent out on loan to PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece last summer, where he is currently plying his trade.

Liverpool supporters are aware that Slot has a penchant for bolstering his attack. However, with Florian Wirtz still acclimatising to the number ten role since joining last summer, it's perhaps not entirely unexpected that Ivanesec found it challenging to make an impact in the position under Slot.

Ondrej Lingr - attacking midfielder

Secured for just £6.7m from Slavia Prague in August 2023, Lingr managed 28 appearances under Slot where he played behind the forward line.

He was subsequently loaned back to Prague before being sold back to his former club in the summer of 2024. He now plies his trade for Houston Dynamo in the MLS.

Like Ivanusec, Lingr represents another unsuccessful attacking midfield experiment for Slot at Feyenoord. It's possible that the Liverpool boss might allocate his remaining transfer budget to other areas of the squad in future transfer windows given his less than impressive record with attacking midfield acquisitions.

Bart Nieuwkoop - defender

The right-back progressed through the ranks at Feyenoord and even made 81 appearances before being sold to Willem II in 2020. After a three-season spell at Belgian side Union SG, Nieuwkoop re-signed for Feyenoord under Slot in August 2023 and continues to play his football for Feyenoord to this day.

Under Slot's guidance, the 29-year-old played as a right back and occasionally as an attacking full-back on the wing - a role that Liverpool's current full backs are familiar with. Liverpool are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements due to injuries to Geovani Leoni and Joe Gomez.

It's encouraging to see that amidst the influx of attacking players and reserve goalkeepers, defence was not overlooked, especially considering Liverpool are just one injury away from a major crisis at centre-back.
