Manchester City transfer news and rumours as Pep Guardiola's side suffer Josko Gvardiol injury set-back
Manchester City have recalled Max Alleyne from his loan spell at Championship side Watford following an injury to Josko Gvardiol.
The defender was withdrawn early in the second half during Sunday evening’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium and it has now been confirmed that he has suffered a tibial fracture to his right leg.
The City man made 17 appearances for the Hornets, starting 14 of those games.
Following City’s decision to recall him, he took to Instagram and said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Watford. I’ve had the privilege of working with some amazing players and staff who have helped me massively.
“The supporters were amazing to me and I’ll always remember my time at this great club. I wish everyone at the club all the best for the future. Thank you Hornets.”
Meanwhile, City are also said to be considering a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. That is according to a report from BBC Sport, who have revealed that Guardiola’s side are exploring a move for the England international following Gvardiol’s injury.
City also have concerns over Ruben Dias and defensive reinforcements could prove to be a must before the window shuts.
Speaking about City’s injury problems, Guardiola admitted after the draw with Chelsea that it did “not look good” for Dias or Gvardiol, with the latter’s injury confirmed.
The Spaniard added: "We have a lot [of injuries]. John Stones is missing for I don't know how many months. Ruben now will be out, Josko will be out.
"Nathan [Ake], always we know he cannot play regularly. It's the situation - stay strong and we will find a solution. The spirit is there and will be there."
Liverpool remain interested in Guehi after seeing a £35m deal collapse in the summer while Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are all credited with an interest.
