Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Eddie Howe and Liam Rosenior that we think you guys may have missed…
There has been some stunning reports in the media which have claimed that Chelsea have sounded out a possible deal for Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe, as they continue to be linked with some of the games best managers
CHELSEA are still in the middle of holding talks with prospective bosses about taking over the club after it was revealed just last week that Enzo Maresca would be stepping down as boss of the Blues after just 18 months in charge.
There has been alot of speculation and rumours on why the Italian is no longer boss of the club but Liam Rosenior, the Strasbourg boss, is a leading contender to succeed Maresca after his two seasons in France working for Chelsea owners BlueCo, but it is understood that Chelsea are considering alternatives to Rosenior who have proven Premier League calibre.
And that has now led to reports on the Football Insider website which has claimed that Chelsea have sounded out Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe about taking over at the club.
Howe certainly fits the bill given his extensive experience at Newcastle, who he joined in November 2021, and Bournemouth, where he spent a decade during their extraordinary rise through the divisions before establishing them as a Premier League club.
Newcastle are 13th in the Premier League, but are into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup for the third time in four years and likely need just one point from their remaining two Champions League games to reach the knockout rounds of that competition for the first time in their history.
Would Eddie Howe be interested in a move to Chelsea?
It would certainly be a big step for Howe to make, CHELSEA are still a massive club. But the fact they change managers on a regular basis, staying at Newcastle would be the right decision.
He has a great squad, a great set of fans, the board are loyal and he can build something, he would not get that same loyalty from the Blues board that is for sure.
ROSENIOR IN TALKS NOW
Liam Rosenior will be interviewed for the Chelsea head coach job on Monday, as current interim coach Calum McFarlane has admitted that a new manager will be appointed very soon.
The Strasbourg boss remains the leading candidate for the role. Chelsea want to move quickly to replace Enzo Maresca and an appointment could be made in time for their game at Fulham on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports.
Calum McFarlane took charge of CHELSEA for their visit to the Etihad and guided his side to a 1-1 draw thanks to a late equaliser from Enzo Fernandez.
Speaking after the game, McFarlane said: “When I originally took over I was told I would take the Man City game and there’s a chance the new manger might be in on Monday, that’s what I was told originally.
“It’s Sunday now, we’ve been solely focused on the game. For all I know, the new manager will be in shortly and I will lead the team until he’s in.”
The former Hull manager was asked again on the links with CHELSEA at the weekend, Rosenior said: “I haven’t discussed anything at this point. I know that they’re looking for a manager. Obviously it’s our sister club.
“Other than that I really want to focus on this club because this club has given me so much. So many good memories, so many good times. The players, the fans, it’s a great city.
“I don’t think it’s respectful to talk about anything else straight after a game that we’ve drawn. Like I said before, if something happens, it happens, but at the moment nothing’s happened.
“I know that there’s lots of speculation. I’d have to be an alien not to know.”
CHELSEA WANTS NWANERI
Things are looking pretty chaotic at Chelsea right now, but that apparently hasn’t harmed their ambition in the transfer market as there has been some stunning claimed that they are keen to try and sign Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal.
Right now, all the talk at CHELSEA is about who will be the next boss of the club, with many reports suggesting that Liam Rosenior is leading the likes of Oliver Glasner and Androni Iraola as the man to replace Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge.
But that has not stopped the transfer speculation about players that could be coming into the club, as there are still a few areas of the pitch that the Blues board would like to improve over the next few weeks of the transfer window.
What is the latest regarding Ethan Nwaneri?
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea have set their sights on potential transfer deals for two of England’s top young talents in the form of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.
there are a few players in the side that are probably no longer needed by Mikel Arteta, and there has been alot of speculation and rumours in the media about stars that could be let go at some point this January transfer window.
Nwaneri has not featured for *ARSENAL*since the Champions League win over Club Brugge on December 10 – and was left out of the matchday squad for the midweek win over Aston Villa
The 19-year-old has found it challenging for minutes this season, raising speculation about whether he should find a temporary home elsewhere for regular football.
Could Nwaneri really end up at Chelsea?
Even though Mikel Arteta would like to keep hold of Nwaneri this January window, the right amount of money from Chelsea could actually see a move happen, as the Gunners could use those funds to add some fresh faces to the side.
However – we cant see this transfer deal happening anytime soon and if he does leave ARSENAL, it will surely not be for Chelsea as he would not get any game time.
