Hurzeler gives updates on Minteh and Wieffer as Albion prepare to face Man City

Yankuba Minteh is a major doubt for [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au)’s trip to the Etihad.

The winger went off with a dead leg at West Ham last Tuesday.

He sat out the home game with Burnley, although he could be seen near the technical area during the match and appeared to be limping.

Head coach Fabian Hurzeler confirmed on Tuesday morning Minteh has only a “minor” chance of facing Manchester City at the Etihad.

However fellow winger Kaoru Mitoma is expected to make a second start in quick succession after his absence due to an ankle injury followed, briefly, by illness.

One media outlet in Africa has been attempting to [push a narrative of Liverpool wanting Minteh](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/25737122.next-step-yankuba-minteh-liverpool-link/?ref=ed_direct) as a successor to Mo Salah, although the Albion man's agent played it down, and it it appears there are less dramatic reasons for Minteh's likely absence.

Albion will be keen to have Minteh available for their FA Cup tie at Manchester United, where he caused a lot of problems in the league win this time last year.

Mats Wieffer remains sidelined due to a toe injury.

Albion will look to build on four points from the last two games and appear to face a decision in attack between Charalampos 'Babis' Kostoulas, who started on Saturday, and Danny Welbeck.

Hurzeler said: "I think we have a big belief in Babis and he proved against Burnley he can play as a striker. He also plays as a ten."
