The January transfer window is well underway, but it remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool will be active in terms of senior additions before the month is out.

The Reds suffered a last-minute setback against Fulham on Sunday when the Cottagers snatched a thrilling 2-2 draw with a spectacular goal in the dying moments. This second successive stalemate, coupled with a growing injury list, has prompted calls from fans and pundits alike for additional reinforcements.

So far, Arne Slot's acquisitions at Liverpool have included five attacking players and two full-backs with an offensive mindset. His 11 signings also comprise three goalkeepers and one center-back.

Intriguingly, Slot's final transfers at his former club Feyenoord reflect his recruitment at Liverpool, offering insight into the kind of players that the Dutch manager favors.

We've taken a closer look at Slot's last five signings for his previous club before his move to Liverpool, shedding light on his potential future plans at Anfield, which he will help shape alongside sporting director Richard Hughes.

Anis Hadj Moussa (winger)

Although signed under Slot, Moussa, 23, actually joined Feyenoord after the Dutchman had already made the switch to Liverpool. The right-sided player has been a consistent threat for Feyenoord, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in 63 appearances.

Given Liverpool's need for more attacking prowess on the wings following Luis Diaz's departure, it's encouraging that Slot has a proven track record of successful recruitment in this area.

With 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha being managed carefully and Federico Chiesa failing to fully impress Slot, it's possible that Liverpool will soon be in the market for a left winger. Moussa's success at Feyenoord suggests that Slot has a sharp eye for talent in wide positions.

Mikki van Sas (goalkeeper)

Slot brought Van Sas to Feyenoord from Manchester City's academy on a free transfer in September 2023. The young 21-year-old keeper didn't manage to make a single appearance for Feyenoord and was subsequently loaned out to Vitesse in the Netherlands.

Despite warming the bench for Feyenoord in both the Champions League and Europa League, he eventually made a move to Wycombe Wanderers. This indicates that Slot likes to keep his options open when it comes to goalkeepers.

He's already signed three keepers during his tenure at Liverpool, with Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman all joining the ranks. However, only Marmadashvili has seen regular action filling in for Alisson Becker, while Woodman has made a solitary start in the Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

Luka Ivanusec and Ondrej Lingr (attacking midfielders)

The Croatian maestro joined Feyenoord in August 2023. In 55 appearances, Ivanusec netted four goals and provided seven assists. Despite showing promise at the Dutch club, he was loaned out to PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece last summer, where he continues to showcase his skills.

Snapped up for a mere $9M from Slavia Prague in August 2023, Lingr clocked up 28 appearances under Slot, operating just behind the strikers. He was subsequently loaned back to Prague before being sold back to his former club in the summer of 2024. He now plies his trade for Houston Dynamo in MLS.

Bart Nieuwkoop (defender)

The right-back climbed through the ranks at Feyenoord and even made 81 appearances before being sold to Willem II in 2020.

After a three-season stint at Belgian side Union SG, Nieuwkoop returned to Feyenoord under Slot in August 2023 and continues to ply his trade for Feyenoord to this day.

Under Slot's management, the 29-year-old has been deployed as a right back and occasionally as an attacking full-back on the wing.

It's heartening to see that despite the influx of attacking players and backup goalkeepers, the defense hasn't been neglected, particularly given that Liverpool is just one injury away from a significant crisis at center-back.
