Arsenal are enjoying themselves this season, but this doesn’t mean that Mikel Arteta is resting on his laurels.
Mikel Arteta has managed to cope with everything that has been thrown at his Arsenal team this season after a summer transfer window that saw the reinforcements that he needed arrive.
Recruitment never stops though and having found a formula that works, Andrea Berta is now leading the way in sourcing the profile of player who can take
The Gunners to the next level. Not just players who can win a Premier League title, but who can retain it and begin a period of dominance under Arteta. Football goes in cycles, why can’t it be Arsenal’s turn? Rodrygo has been linked with a £52m from Real Madrid and he isn’t the only name that fans will recognise who might be heading to The Emirates if the manager gets his way.
Arsenal eye Tino Livramento swoop
On the face of it, Arsenal are well set in defence with multiple options at centre-half and at full-back, however, Arteta is reported to be after one of the Premier League’s up and coming stars who has already been identified by Thomas Tuchel as a player who could be an England international for years to come.
According to Football Transfers, Tino Livramento is being lined up as a potential new addition: “Sources have revealed that Livramento has emerged as a leading target for the Gunners, though it is unclear whether an attempt for the three-time capped England star will be made in January.
“Manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta have identified the 23-year-old as a player who fits the profile they are searching for. Arsenal’s belief is that the Newcastle player has a similar style to Jurrien Timber and could fit into the right-back role with ease. “
Livramento is naturally a right-back who made his breakthrough on the left for Newcastle United such is the ease in which he can switch between the two positions. Stylistically, he is close to Timber and Riccardo Calafiori and the link is one that makes a lot of sense. It wouldn’t be good news for Ben White though, who has gone from starting XI regular to bit-part player after the arrival of Timber and Livramento would push him even further down the pecking order.
Theo Walcott hated playing against Livramento
Livramento was courted by Scotland before Tuchel capped him with former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott explaining why the 22-year old is such a good player via The Mirror: “He’s kind of a right-footed Gareth Bale in stature and the way he runs, and I feel like he’s the perfect wing-back.
“At no point in training did I think about going up against him. There’s just no point. I’m a bit older and he’s physically stronger. I was quick still but I thought, ‘Why am I going to test myself against someone who is physically in a better position than me?’ I did the same with Kyle Walker when I was playing. I’d go and use my skills somewhere else and that’s the stature and how highly I rate him in one-v-one situations.
“Then the Newcastle factor and working with Eddie Howe, English, that whole community of English guys around him, I think that’s part of why Thomas Tuchel feels it’s important for him to be at this tournament.”
The only question is, would Livramento be happy having to compete for minutes rather than being the first choice? With the England role up for grabs, Arteta would have to be at his persuasive best.
