I’m growing tired of writing short introductions for quote-board posts after losses.
Can y’all win a game, please and thank you?
Words below.
Mike Brown
On why the Pistons beat the Knicks on Monday:
“It’s pretty simple. They just physically kicked our ass.”
On defensive accountability and urgency:
“Everything’s on the table right now for us defensively. We have got to figure out, have to bring it physically but we as a staff have to keep finding ways to help that group.”
Jalen Brunson
On accountability after yet another loss:
“If we want to be the team we say we want to be, then we’ve got to be better. Simple as that.”
On Detroit wanting the game more than New York:
“They were ready to go tonight. They wanted to play. They truly wanted to win and we didn’t.”
On the need for an internal response and stronger leadership:
“We’ve just got to respond. A lot more needs to be said, but we’re going to keep that internal. If we want to be the team we say we want to be, then we’ve got to be better. Simple as that. I think it’s a testament to where we are as a team and where we need to go. Not necessarily a wake-up call or anything about playoff basketball. I just think that they were ready to go tonight. They wanted to play, they truly wanted to win and we didn’t.”
On turnovers and offensive impact:
“With me and the turnovers I had, the turnovers we had as a team, not a lot is going to happen offensively that’s going to be in our favor. So we’ve got to do a better job of not turning the ball over.”
Karl-Anthony Towns
On the team’s struggles:
“We’ve got to get to the drawing board. We’ve got to figure it out. Offensively, defensively, we’ve got to figure it out. It just hasn’t been good basketball from us recently.”
On his bad games having to do with adjusting to a new system:
“Different system. It’s just different.”
On why he’s still struggling and trying to find a fix:
“Biggest adjustment is for me. Like Mike said, I make the biggest sacrifice. We’re figuring it out. We’ve got a long flight, a practice tomorrow, we’ve got to sit down and figure out who we are and how we want to get back on track.”
On the Knicks’ slump:
“It’s cool to be in a funk. That happens. Ups and down, ebbs and flows of a season. But it’s a bad, bad time. We can’t have it be this bad. We’ve just got to get back to the drawing board, figure out what we do, how we play Knicks basketball, who we are, how we want to get it done.”
Miles McBride
On defensive breakdowns vs. Detroit:
“Man, did we play defense tonight? S–t. I mean, we just got to come together, figure out a way to get stops.”
On the team-wide responsibility:
“We have to come together. I don’t know if it’s effort, more effort. I don’t know if it’s X’s and O’s. We have to be on the same page defensively. The coaches can draw whatever they want, but we as a team, we got to figure it out and lean on our leaders.”
Cade Cunningham
On Detroit’s mindset entering the matchup against the Knicks:
“We knew there was a little extra to this game. We wanted to beat them. There’s no hiding that.”
