Official: Chelsea announce new manager and there is a major shock with it

Chelsea have now officially announced their new permanent head coach, but it comes with a major shock attached to it.

As you will have heard, Liam Rosenior from Strasbourg was always the main candidate to get the role as new head coach at Chelsea. Even this morning, Fabrizio Romano was reporting that Chelsea were on the verge of announcing the Englishman as their new manager.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea in for Ivory Coast international winger!

But the appointment comes with major concerns, with Jamie Carragher pretty much writing off the inexperienced manager from day one.

And there are many Chelsea fans too who are concerned with hiring Rosenior, who has never managed in the Premier League and his biggest gig so far has been with Strasbourg.

I think concerns and question marks are just natural. But the fact is now that they all just have to get used to it, because Chelsea have officially announced Rosenior as their new head coach on their website this morning.

The big shock

The big shock is that Chelsea have given the former Hull City manager a very long contract, longer than many other managers would ever get at any club really.

Rosenior has signed a contract with the club that will take him through to 2032. That is some mad commitment there from the club.

We wish him well

As I’ll always do, I’ll get behind any Chelsea manager until they give me reason not to. Club over anything else. Chelsea FC comes first and is way more than staff, owners, players – who all come and go. All the very best of luck, Liam.
