After ‘mutually’ agreeing to sack Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea owners have now moved Liam Rosenior over to Stamford Bridge from Strasbourg.
The most hilarious thing is surely the fact that the official announcement on Tuesday morning has revealed that they have given their latest puppet a contract that runs to summer 2032, six and a half years!
The odds must be something like a trillion to one that Liam Rosenior will see out that contract in the role.
In the three and a half years of their shameless time in charge, the Chelsea owners have had seven different people in charge of picking the team (but nothing else…) so far.
Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor, Frank Lampard, Mauricio Pochettino, Enzo Maresca and Calum McFarlane, with now Liam Rosenior to be the eighth puppet to pick the Chelsea team but have no say on anything else.
Nowhere in the official statement does it even mention that the Chelsea owners have simply moved him across from another club (Strasbourg) that they own.
Liam Rosenior has managed two clubs previously in England, sacked by then League One Derby County and later sacked by Championship club Hull City.
His only other managerial (Head Coach) experience has been the 18 months he has spent at Strasbourg, after the Chelsea owners (BlueCo) gave him the job there in July 2024.
Today’s official statement sees the Chelsea owners claiming: ‘Liam has shown that he can build teams with a clear way of playing while setting the highest standards with players on and off the pitch. While there will continue to be a focus on player development, the Club’s expectations and ambitions remain high. Liam has the ability to get the best out of this squad quickly and joins us with the responsibility and the backing to ensure Chelsea continues to compete at the top level in all competitions this season and in seasons to come…’
Safe to say that if this new puppet lasts years rather than months under these Chelsea owners, it will be the biggest shock of all.
