Retired NBA player Reggie Miller, rapper Snoop Dogg and NBC comentator Terry Gannon call the game between the LA Clippers and the Golden State Warriors during the second half at Intuit Dome on January 05, 2026 in Inglewood, California.
Rapper Snoop Dogg had a viral reaction to Steve Kerr’s ejection during the Golden State Warriors‘ 103-102 loss to the LA Clippers on Monday.
Calling his first-ever game as a color commentator for the NBA on NBC and Peacock broadcast, an animated Snoop loved watching the Warriors head coach battle the refs over a series of controversial calls that led to his ejection.
“Uh oh! Steve’s going to get thrown out!” Snoop exclaimed on the air.
“Get him out of there! Get him out of there! Back him up, back him up, G.P. [Gary Payton II] Back him up!”
“Steve’s ready to fire on him. Steve’s backing Inglewood right now. Inglewood! Get him, Steve! You’re in Inglewood, Steve! The Arizona Wildcat came out. Look at him!”
Dogg proceeded to make barking sounds as he continued to praise Kerr’s fire.
Why Was Steve Kerr Ejected?
Kerr was ejected with 7:57 of the fourth quarter after he picked up back-to-back technical fouls within 60 seconds. First, at the 8:44 mark, he was livid when officials waived off a Stephen Curry basket since the Warriors star was fouled before his shot.
Then, at the 8:01 mark, the refs did not call a goaltend when Clippers forward John Collins blocked a layup from Gary Payton II, even though replays suggested otherwise.
When the refs refused to call a goaltend, Kerr lost his cool and nearly came to blows with them, leading to his ejection. After the game, Stephen Curry thanked his coach for taking the bullet on behalf of him and his teammates.
“To be honest, I was going to do that until I saw him,” Curry said of Kerr’s furious reaction, via via San Francisco Chronicle’s Sam Gordon.
“I was appreciative of that because two crazy calls in a row that you feel like can dictate the momentum of a game. Doesn’t mean a win or a loss. It just dictates the momentum. I love that fired-up Steve, for sure. Somebody had to do it tonight.”
Snoop Dogg Shines as a Color Man
Many fans were thrilled with Snoop’s first assignment as an on-air color commentator, with some urging NBC/Peacock to make him a permanent fixture in their broadcasts.
Even Curry was thrilled with Snoop’s addition to the NBA airwaves.
“It was a great addition,” Curry said of Snoop, via The Athletic’s Nick Friedell.
“I got to see him last summer in Paris. He came over, he rode the train with us from where we were staying in downtown Paris to where the basketball arena was and he was talking trash, having a good time on the train there. I got to be part of refurbishing one of the community centers and the gyms that he grew up in down in Long Beach. So I’ve known him for a long time, he can find his way anywhere, in any environment.”
In the lead-up to the game, Warriors wing Moses Moody said that since “everybody was a Snoop fan growing up,” he was excited to hear the news of Snoop as a commentar.
“I really like the niche that he’s carved out for himself now in the business space,” Moody said of Snoop. “And what he brings to commentary, what he brings to (being) a TV personality, what he brings to the Olympics. Just the urban — but it’s him, but he’s also playing into (the role), but it’s who he is. That’s what he brings to any space that he’s in and I like what it adds. So that will be cool to see on the NBA stage.”
