Calum McFarlane did really well in his first press conference last week. In fact, he did so well that the club have decided to give him another shot.
The newly appointed Liam Rosenior quite reasonably didn’t want to take a presser today and have just a day of training before taking his first match, so CMC will take charge of tomorrow’s game against Fulham too.
He answered the general presser questions this morning, including fitness updates.
Fofana still not trained after illness

One player who missed out against Man City on Sunday was Wesley Fofana, who has apparently been ill. McFarlane was asked how he was getting on:
“He’s going to be checked when he comes in,” the interim coach said, rather stony faced.
Hmm. If he’s not yet come in, that would mean the team are training this afternoon. He would have one session at best under his belt before playing, even assuming he’s not ill. It’s very possible he plays even without a session, but it’s not trending the right way, that’s for sure.
This is exactly why we said Fofana should have started against Aston Villa. Even if you’re managing a player’s minutes, you never know when an illness or a suspension is going to come in and break up your plan.
If they’ve had a week off, play them. Don’t worry about thinking so many games ahead when there are so many unknown unknowns.
In other news…
Enzo Fernandez could never quite find a role in the Enzo Maresca setup – at least one that suited both him and the team. Perhaps things will be different with Rosenior in charge?
The removal of Joao Pedro for Liam Delap was a turning point for Chelsea in some ways, with the striker’s runs in behind threatening City far more. That’s bad news for the Brazilian.
