Barcelona still unsure about keeping €30m-rated forward beyond current season

Marcus Rashford has quickly become one of the most talked-about names at Barcelona this season.

Signed last summer on loan from Manchester United, the forward has made a clear impact in the first half of the campaign, even if his role has not always been that of a guaranteed starter.

Across all competitions, he has already registered seven goals and eleven assists, a return that places him among Barcelona’s most productive attackers this season.

Whenever Hansi Flick has turned to him, Rashford has delivered, either by scoring, creating chances, or changing the rhythm of games from the bench.

Despite this contribution, though, uncertainty still surrounds his long-term future at the club.

Uncertainty at Barcelona

According to a report from AS, Barcelona are not yet convinced about triggering the buy option included in the deal, which is set at €30 million.

The hesitation does not stem from his output alone, but from a sporting evaluation.

One of the main concerns highlighted internally is Rashford’s work when Barcelona defend high up the pitch, as his pressing in the high block has not always met Flick’s demands.

That said, the club has noted a clear improvement in recent matches, with Rashford showing greater effort in covering spaces and contributing more consistently without the ball.

Those in favour of keeping him point to the fact that Rashford has integrated well into the dressing room and has built a strong connection with the fans.

From a financial perspective, many within the club see €30 million as a fair price for someone with experience at the top level.

No decision yet

Still, no final decision has been taken, as Barcelona continue to weigh all factors carefully.

While performances like the recent derby strengthen Rashford’s case, his long-term stay is far from guaranteed.

Lastly, there is also movement on the Manchester United side. The recent dismissal of Ruben Amorim could change the picture entirely.

Rashford’s difficult relationship with Amorim was well known, and with a new coach expected to arrive, a return to Old Trafford could become a realistic option.
