Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert said he is very happy with Nando De Colo’s transfer to Fenerbahce, noting that it shows how hungry his competitive spirit still is.
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert reacted to his former French national team teammate Nando De Colo’s transfer to Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.
Gobert said he is very happy with De Colo’s decision, noting that it highlights how competitive the veteran guard still is.
“Honestly, I’m very happy for him. I was really glad to hear the news. I think it shows just how hungry his competitive spirit still is,” Gobert told Tom Compayrot of BeBasket.
“To be honest, this is great news. It’s a really positive development for him. I don’t know whether he’ll retire at the end of this season, but this is how I see it: he’s such a smart and talented player that even if he’s not as physically strong as he used to be—which is completely normal—he can still have a significant impact on games,” he added.
The 38-year-old De Colo has already played for Fenerbahce, enjoying major individual and team success with the club from 2019 to 2022.
As announced by the club, De Colo will play through the end of the season after leaving LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.
This season, De Colo is averaging 13.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 17.8 PIR per game in 13 EuroLeague appearances.
