Chelsea have today confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new manager, and it’s fair to say it hasn’t gone down well in France.
Rosenior was doing well as manager of Strasbourg, who share the same owners as Chelsea. But now he’s been beamed back up to the mothership, and the already frustrated fans of the French side aren’t happy.
Strong statement from supporters shows their unhappiness

“Liam Rosenior’s transfer marks yet another humiliating step in Racing’s subjugation to Chelsea,” read a statement from a major Strasbourg fan group, as translated by the Athletic.
“For two and a half years, we and others have been trying to raise the alarm about this. The problem goes far beyond the sporting impact mid-season and the ambitions of a young coach. It is structural; the future of French club football is at stake.
“Every additional contortion by Marc Keller, every extra minute he spends at the helm of the club, is an insult to the tremendous work done before 2023. What many saw as an exaggeration last September is looking more and more like sound advice: it’s time to leave. Now.”
It’s strong stuff, but hard to disagree with.
Just imagine how you would feel if Chelsea were in the same situation? It already feels like BlueCo are sucking the soul out of the club, but at least we’re at the top of the Christmas tree. Imagine if any player or manager who actually managed to do well were whisked away mid-season?
There is no amount of talented loan players we can send there which will repair this damage.
In other news…
Liam Rosenior may fancy using Andrey Santos more after their shared success together in France, especially after the midfielder looked great against Man City.
Interim coach Calum McFarlane spoke on his press conference today about 3 key players who missed the Man City game, but apparently all trained today and could feature tomorrow night against Fulham.
